- 0.5red onion(thinly sliced)
- handfulfresh basil leaves(torn)
- 1 tspdried oregano
- 2 tbspolive oil(for drizzling)
Instructions
- 1
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center.
- 3
Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the well. Mix until a dough forms.
- 4
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- 6
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
- 7
Punch down the dough and divide it into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
- 8
On a floured surface, roll or stretch each ball into a 6-inch round.
- 9
If using a pizza stone, dust a pizza peel with cornmeal and place the dough rounds on it. Otherwise, place the rounds on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
- 10
Spread tomato sauce over each pizza, leaving a small border for the crust.
- 11
Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and add your desired toppings.
- 12
Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with dried oregano.
- 13
Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 14
Remove from the oven, top with fresh basil leaves, slice, and serve hot.

Chef's Tips
- For a crispier crust, prebake the pizza dough for 3-4 minutes before adding toppings.
- If you're short on time, you can use store-bought pizza dough or even small pita breads as the base.
- Get creative with toppings – try pineapple and ham for a Hawaiian style, or spinach and feta for a Mediterranean twist.
- For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes or drizzle with hot honey after baking.
